Nicolas Millot

Nicolas Nam Millot is a PhD candidate at the Institute of History and Philosophy of Science and Technology (IHPST, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne), under the supervision of Prof. Marco Panza, and a temporary teaching and research assistant (ATER) affiliated with the Archives Henri- Poincaré and the Institute for Digital Studies, Cognition and Management (IDMC) at the Université de Lorraine. Primarily trained in Philosophy, he is also completing a degree in Mathematics at Sorbonne Université.

His research lies primarily at the intersection of the philosophy of mathematical practice and the philosophy of the cognitive sciences, with broader interests in the philosophy of biology and more general epistemological frameworks (such as historical epistemology, philosophy of scientific practices, philosophy of science in practice). Lately, he has also been very interested in the philosophy of scientific modeling and especially computational modeling of the mind/brain.

His doctoral thesis focuses on the emergence and development of geometric knowledge from a joint cognitive and historical perspective. More specifically, the project aims to articulate how the investigation of the cognitive foundations of geometry requires a cognitive analysis of geometric practices.
